Laboratory
UDDU has 3 research labs focused on different aspects of flood resilience in urban systems: the Water Adaptation Lab, the Universal Design Lab, and the Heritage Lab. These labs work to advance the field through research, design, and analysis.
The Water Adaptation Lab focuses on the adaptation of urban systems to flooding, and works to identify new and innovative solutions for making cities more resilient to flooding. Universal Design Lab focuses on design and research of new forms, objects, and regulations using technology and the design thinking process, with the goal of exploring how design can be used to address issues of flood resilience in urban systems. Heritage Lab maps the critical issues and opportunities related to flood resilience in historical heritage areas, and works to identify the potential for adapting and analyzing these areas in the context of flood resilience.
Overall, these 3 research labs contribute to UDDU’s efforts to advance the field of flood resilience in urban systems and to contribute to the development of more sustainable and resilient cities for all.
Water adaptation lab
The Water Adaptation Lab is a research facility within UDDU, the research and development department for the NPPN company in Bangkok, Thailand. It focuses on flood adaptation measures to help communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from flood events. The Water Adaptation Lab studies the impacts of floods on the built environment and develops strategies and technologies to help communities adapt and build more resilient spaces. Its research and development efforts are helping to create more livable, equitable, and sustainable spaces for people around the world.
Universal Design Lab
Universal Design Lab focuses on design and research of new forms, objects, and regulations using technology and the design thinking process. This research aims to explore how design can be used to address issues of flood resilience in urban systems and to identify new and innovative solutions. The lab’s focus on technology and design thinking process allows it to take a holistic and user-centered approach to design, and to consider the needs of diverse users and stakeholders.
Heritage Lab
Heritage Lab aims to map the critical issues and opportunities related to flood resilience in historical heritage areas, and to identify the potential for adapting and analyzing these areas in the context of flood resilience. This research is important for ensuring that the needs of historical heritage areas are considered and addressed in the development of more resilient and sustainable cities.
